Experience two of Gippsland’s walking gems, starting at the historic village of Walhalla where you’ll hike parts of the Australian Alpine Walking Track, and then moving on to Wilsons Promontory (or “The Prom”) for four more days of exploring. There’s no carrying heavy packs or sleeping rough on this adventure, and you’ll feast on local produce with many meals included.

Day One Departs Melbourne airport at 9.00am with an earlier pickup at the Alto Hotel in the CBD. Travel via Moe to Walhalla. Afternoon hike along an historic tramway route through the forests to arrive at Walhalla. Time to explore the historic relics in this quaint village.

Day Two Full day hike on a section of the Australian Alps Walking Track to Mushroom Rocks and Mt Erica. Late afternoon visit to the impressive Thomson Dam.

Day Three Travel to Wilsons Promontory. Exciting afternoon coastal walk from Picnic Bay to Tidal River. There will be time for a swim along the way or at Tidal River where we’ll settle in for four nights.

Day Four This morning’s walk includes wetlands, fern gullies and an optional climb to the summit of Mt Bishop for panoramic views. The afternoon walk features the coastal hike from Derby River to Tongue Point.

Day Five Today we’ll do a one way hike from Telegraph Saddle down to Oberon Bay, Little Oberon Bay and then on to Tidal River. Easier option available.

Day Six Our final hike is a full day walk to isolated Sealers Cove and back. For the really fit, we’ll offer an additional side trip to Refuge Cove.

Day Seven Travel back to Melbourne via the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, to arrive at about 4.00pm
