Enjoy the Snowy Mountains Region in style, taking in impressive granite formations, green alpine meadows filled with wildflowers, and panoramic views. You’ll summmit Australia’s highest mountain, Mount Kosciusko, and cross the famous Snowy River. Each day consists of a day-hike or short hike, allowing you to get a good feel for the area without carrying a heavy pack, and at night you’ll return to Thredbo Alpine Village to sleep in comfort.

Day One 7km walk
Depart Canberra 9am. Morning tea stop in Jindabyne. Brief visit to the Snowy Mountains Visitor Information Centre. Dinner and shared overnight ski lodge accommodation in the heart of the alpine village of Thredbo.
Day Two 12km walk
Morning short walk to the Porcupine. Lunch at Rainbow Lake. Afternoon options (depending on weather conditions) – Walk the Pallaigo Track from Sawpit Creek down to Thredo or walk out to Rennix Gap. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Thredbo.
Day Three 13km walk
Walk from Charlotte’s Pass down to cross the Snowy River, making our way to Blue Lakes. This is a dramatic location with a series of cascading waterfalls finishing in a deep blue pool. Blue Lakes is arguably the jewel in the crown of the Kosciusko National Park. The journey continues as we head around to Mt Twynam with superb views to the north of the park. Afternoon options – continue down Crummer Spur into Blue Lake or simply retrace your steps. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Thredbo.
Day Four 18km walk
We’ll make our way to the highest point in the country, Mt. Kosciuszko. Enjoy the chair lift from Thredbo Village to Main Range. Pass snowdrifts that survive year round and appreciate the awesome splendour of our surrounds on top of Mt. Kosciuszko. Our return journey follows along a beautifully shaded trail that affords us superb views over the southern end of Australia’s High Country. Dinner at local restaurant (at own expense).
Day Five 8km walk
Easy morning short walk around the Thredbo Diggings, walking alongside the Thredbo River. Lunch at Jindabyne (at own expense). Return to Canberra (arrive at around 4:30pm).
