THE DETAILS

$2,350 per person (plus $390 single supplement)

Hike the seven-day, 105 kilometre Great Ocean Walk, starting from Apollo Bay and finishing at the famous Twelve Apostles, where magnificent rock stacks rise up from the Southern Ocean. Along the way, you’ll explore beaches, coves and stunning clifftop vistas, and meet kangaroos, wallabies, and a diverse array of local birdlife. There’s no need to carry a heavy pack as luggage will be transported for you, between the comfortable accommodation where you’ll return each night to eat and sleep.

ITINERARY

Day One 8km walk
Depart Melbourne 7.30am. Morning tea – Anglesea. Walk: Apollo Bay to Shelley Beach. Through the Marengo foreshore, past secluded beaches and onto the Otway rainforest. Lunch on the trail. Two-course dinner at local hotel. Overnight accommodation Waterfront Motel Apollo Bay.
Day Two 18.5km walk
Walk: Shelley Beach to Parker Inlet. Walk through a heavily forested section of the Great Otway National Park where huge Mountain Ash trees tower overhead. On to Blanket Bay to dip your toes in the ocean and finish at Parker River Inlet. It is common to spot echidna, black wallaby and a variety of birdlife on today’s walk. Lunch on the trail. Two-course dinner prepared by guides. Overnight accommodation at Johanna Seaside Cottages.
Day Three 16km walk
Walk: Parker River Inlet to Aire River. Today’s walk depends on the tide – travel along the waters’ edge or take the cliff top past groves of manna gum filled with koalas. The afternoon walk is along the cliff tops above Station Beach. Morning tea at Cape Otway Lightstation. Lunch on the trail. Two-course dinner prepared by guides. Overnight accommodation at Johanna Seaside Cottages.
Day Four 13.5 – 16.5km walk
Walk: Aire River to Johanna Seaside Cottages, via Johanna Beach. Climb through a sheltered grove of tea tree, to see spectacular ocean panoramas of the rugged coastline. Pass through Castle Cove and finish at Johanna Beach where it’s just 500m to our accommodation. See seals and dolphins playing in the surf find birds of prey hovering above. Lunch on the trail. Two-course dinner prepared by guides. Overnight accommodation at Johanna Seaside Cottages.
Day Five 12 – 20km walk
Walk: Johanna Beach to Moonlight Head via Ryan’s DenThis is one of the most spectacular sections of the entire. This is one of the most spectacular sections of the entire walk. You can opt out of the first part of the walk that takes you from Johanna to the start of Milanesia Beach. If you choose to walk this section you will be rewarded with rolling hills, clear views and kangaroos grazing. Lunch on the trail. Two-course dinner prepared by guides. Overnight accommodation at Johanna Seaside Cottages.
Day Six 12 – 16.5km walk
Walk: Moonlight Head to Princetown. Wander from Moonlight Head through to the Gables Lookout. The second half of the morning brings you to Wreck Beach, see the two shipwrecks that lie submerged and continue to the Devils Kitchen. Lunch on the trail. Afternoon tea at Princetown. Afternoon at the Twelve Apostles. Dinner at local hotel (own expense). Overnight accommodation at Loch Ard Motor Inn, Port Campbell.
Day Seven 8.5km walk
Walk: Princetown to the Twelve ApostlesWalk through coastal heath and past dramatic coastal views to see the stacks of the Twelve Apostles come into view. Depart for Melbourne – (arrive approximately 5.30pm). Return transfer to Melbourne CBD central drop off location.
