Hike part of stages 1 and 2 of the newly opened Grampians Peaks Trail, taking in the rugged mountain peaks, spectacular panoramic views and ancient rock features. The ranges are teaming with wildlife, from lizards to kangaroos, and a diverse range of birds. You’ll return each night to a comfortable bed in the gorgeous town of Halls Gap, nestled between the Wonderland and Mount William ranges.

Day One Depart Melbourne 8.00am, stopping for morning tea at Ballarat and then lunch in Halls Gap. Take off on a half day hike, starting at Brambuk Visitor Centre, crossing Fyans Creek to the base of the Mt William Range for a steady climb. Finish on top of Boronia Peak with panoramic views over the Wonderland Range and surrounding peaks. Retrace footsteps to return to the coach and our place to stay by late afternoon.

Overnight at accommodation, Halls Gap

Day Two Morning walk from the heart of Halls Gap alongside Stony Creek rising towards Wonderland. The imagery and the unique shaping of the rocks give rise to features like the Elephant Hide and the Grand Canyon. Emerge out onto the rocky spine of the Pinnacle, one of the day’s visual spectacles. After lunch continue to Sundial Peak and to Rosea Campground.

Overnight at accommodation, Halls Gap

Day Three A challenging morning walk to the peak of Mount Rosea. The climb is challenging, but the path is well formed and shaded before topping out at the summit of Mount Rosea. Picnic lunch at the summit. Afternoon walk to Borough Huts. Final dinner at local hotel (at own expense)

Overnight at accommodation, Halls Gap

Day Four Morning walk to the top of Mount William – the highest peak in the Grampians. Look right along the entire length of the Grampians as it stretches north and south. Lunch at Halls Gap (own expense). Afternoon tea – Beaufort. Return to Melbourne at around 5.00pm.
