THE DETAILS

$190 per person

After a morning spent practicing your abseiling techniques, you’ll stop for lunch before a 20-minute bushwalk to the start of Empress Canyon. Here you’ll don your wetsuit and helmet before swimming, jumping and sliding your way through the stunning mossy, fern-lined narrow canyon, finishing with another 30 metre abseil down Empress Falls. This tour is available from September to April.

INCLUSIONS

  • Meet at the High and Wild Adventures office, inside the Katoomba YHA for transfer to the canyon
  • Professional dedicated and friendly tour guide
  • Specialised gear – abseil gear, wetsuit, waterproof backpack, climbing shoes
  • Lunch
  • Maximum group size of 6
  • A waterproof camera is available to share between the group on request

WHAT TO BRING

  • Dress for the weather
  • Running shoes that you’re happy to get wet
  • Swimwear
  • A waterproof camera (High and Wild can supply one for the group to share on request)
  • GoPro (if you have one – High and Wild have helmets fitted with GoPro camera mounts)

FURTHER INFORMATION

  • Child friendly: Yes. Suitable for children 14 and over.
  • Difficulty: This tour requires average fitness. While the canyon is reasonably easy, there is a 20 minute walk to the start of the canyon and a very steep climb out at the end.
  • Free breakfast included if you’re staying at the Katoomba YHA.
  • The day generally runs from 8:45am to around 4pm
